Largest Solar Power Plant with Technology Breakthrough   ( 2016/02/29 )

Morocco has switched on the world's largest concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in February 2016!

Instead of using photovoltaic panels, the plants has installed a large set of parabolic mirrors, which focus the sunlight and heat up a liquid. The liquid will reach around 400°C when mixed with water and the steam produced will then drive a turbine for electricity.

Another exceptional technology breakthrough is that a cylinder full of salt is melted by the warmth from the mirrors during the day, and stays hot enough at night and cloudy days to provide up to three hours of power! It is expected to power over one million homes by 2018 and reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 760,000 tons per year.
