Re-farming Campaign on Lamma 2015 – June    ( 2015/06/17 )

Re-farming Campaign on Lamma 2015 has entered into its fourth stage! Now our precious rice seedlings are at the flowering state! Rice is a wind pollinated plant, with small white flowers that are hardly noticed.

Our volunteers spent much more effort than previous months to clear the weeds and mend the footpaths in the field as summer has speeded up the growth of weeds. Furthermore, Local Life, our partner, had held a guided tour introducing Lamma ecology, with interesting stories about the local flora and fauna. After all the physical work, we even had a chance to taste the freshly prepared congee with Mottled Spinefoot by the local residents! We all enjoyed the sunny day with meaningful farming work and ecology exploration on Lamma Island!

We are expecting the harvest stage of our rice seedlings to be in next month. Please visit here to learn more about our re-farming campaign last year.
